IPL™ can make dramatic, visual changes to your skin. For patients who would like to improve the appearance of sun damaged skin, redness, freckles, birthmarks, broken capillaries, spider veins, fine lines, and wrinkles, we offer the IPL™ Photo Facial. An IPL™ Photo Facial can help correct imperfections and create a more youthful appearance, with better skin texture and tone.

IPL™ is popular because it is effective and fast. An IPL™ treatment consists of broad spectrum light (UV light is filtered out). The pulses of light are carefully and precisely directed at the skin’s problem areas, eliminating flawed skin cells, while stimulating the skin’s natural renewal process. The light pulses produced by IPL™ are very brief, discomfort is minimal, and there is no patient down time. An impressive improvement in your skin is usually achieved after four to six treatments.

IPL™ can be used on virtually any part of the body including the face, neck, chest, and hands. IPL™ is versatile in its effectiveness: it is also a long-term solution for hair removal, Rosacea, and acne in the form of LHE® (Light Heat Energy) therapy:

Hair Removal:

Specific wavelengths of light that are focused deep into hair follicles will destroy the follicles and limit the ability to grow more hair. LHE® therapy combines light and heat for long-term hair removal, with little or no side effects. LHE® is used worldwide to safely remove all types of hair on almost every part of the body.

As with any long-term hair removal procedure, LHE® removes hairs that are in their growth phases only. Different hairs go into growth phases at different times. Therefore, to remove all unwanted hair, several treatments in succession are recommended with one to three months between them. A typical LHE® treatment for hair removal lasts from 5 to 45 minutes depending on the area of the body. A treatment plan will be tailored to your own specific needs.

Rosacea/Skin Imperfections:

LHE® therapy can effectively treat sun-damaged or aging skin, smoothing and refining its appearance and texture. LHE® can address skin imperfections such as blemishes, rosacea, uneven skin tone, broken blood vessels, and other skin conditions. For blemished skin, pulses of light penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the pigmented cells of the blemish. A photothermal process is activated in the pigment cells, and the heat helps destroy them. The body then naturally disposes of these cells, and the blemish disappears. LHE® therapy can also smooth skin by penetrating deeply to activate wound healing—a natural bodily reaction. This process causes new collagen to form under the surface of the skin, smoothing and tightening it.

The treatment is safe, with no down time necessary; it is not abrasive nor invasive. Three to six treatments are usually needed for optimum results. We will discuss a treatment plan that is appropriate for you and your skin.

Acne:

Bacteria contributes to acne, and this bacteria can only live in an oxygen-free environment. Exposing clogged pores to specific light wavelengths activates a photothermal process that releases oxygen. This, in turn, kills the acne-causing bacteria. The ClearTouch™ system, using LHE® technology, propels light and heat into clogged pores, killing bacteria and reducing acne inflammation. In four weeks of ClearTouch™ treatments, patients may find up to 90 percent of their acne gone. The technology is simple and safe, with no detrimental side effects. ClearTouch™ is used worldwide to clear up mild to excessive acne on all different skin types. Dr. Sussman will discuss your potential candidacy for this treatment, based on your own specific needs.

Eight ClearTouch™ treatments (over four weeks) are typically enough to see optimum results. One treatment lasts for approximately 15 minutes, depending on the condition of your skin.
